Update and Thank You!
Quickly, she is 'holding' up for now....family and friends have been coming and going since last Thursday...she has not had much time to herself, but I guess the Lord is using this as a 'distractor' for these first few days. Hopefully, next week she will have some time for herself....a time when she will be able to 'break down and cry' without others feeling as if they have to 'make her feel better'. People do mean well, and she knows they are trying to help, so she is not turning anyone away right now. She's indicated that next week, when everyone else goes back to their 'regularly scheduled programs', she may be able to sit and contemplate all that has occured over the last few days and begin to 'mourn' in the manner she would like. At that time, we will sit together and cry as much as she needs and talk through the feelings that are all bottled up within her heart.
But for now, I want to thank all of you for the love and compassion you have shown....it means more to me than you could ever know.
I have so many things to tell you about, stamping things, good things, a card to share and some big news to share, but I'm really, really tired tonight.
I will be back soon with the exciting news (at least for me, it is exciting) and hopefully with a couple of more cards to share.
I do have a card sitting here I had done for the Sweet N' Sassy Stamps Sketch SSS22...I had it finished before getting the news of my friend, but didn't have a chance to get a picture until this afternoon....I'll try to get that posted tomorrow.
Again, my heart wishes it could just jump right through the computer and into the room of each and every one of you...to give you a big hug of thanks, in person. But, since I cannot do that, please believe that my heart is reaching out to each of you with a big hug, if only in spirit.
I pray each of you will have a wonderful and blessed week!
You are all very dear to my heart!
Until next time,
Make time to create but remember to have fun and enjoy the experience!

A Time To Mourn
This will be a quick post....and perhaps not well written... but hopefully will address the specific purpose:
This Wednesday morning I received a call from a member of our church staff...He was calling at the request of my best friend from church...At 4:30 a.m. that morning, my friend found her husband slumped on the floor of their hallway and non-responsive.....After examination at our local hospital, it was determined he had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and had to be intubated to support his breathing...he was then 'airlifted' to a larger hospital that could better assess his condition and administer his care. Arriving to this larger hospital approximately 1 hour later than her husband, my friend was given devastating and life changing news....the hemmorage was extremely massive causing sudden and severe swelling within the brain and brain stem....his life expectancy was at best not more than 24-48 hours with life support, mere minutes without.
Upon hearing this information, I immediately dropped EVERYTHING and took off to the hospital, arriving at 11:30 a.m. My friend's husband was being 'kept alive' via breathing tube and other medical paraphernalia...in hopes this would allow the families of their 4 grown children (3 of which lived out-of-town) the time needed to arrive to the hospital. This unexpected news would take time for each of them to 'process' in order to 'prepare' their hearts and mind for the decision that must be made....to remove life support, with little 'hope' for a positive end result.
I have been at the hospital during this entire time, giving support and encouragement to my friend and saying my own goodbye's to her husband....this situation is never 'easy' to bear and it is only by God's grace that we are able to do so. More importantly, it is only because of our Faith and Trust in our Lord and Savior, that we can find some measure of Hope and Peace through it all. And God was gracious, giving each of us the strength to endure this time of sorrow and make the decisions that must be made.
Sadly, at 11:10 a.m. this Thursday morning, life support was pulled and immediately the heart stopped...the husband, the father, the grandfather, and the friend was now in the very presence of His Heavenly Father.
It was so very difficult for my friend to walk away from the bedside of her beloved husband, of more than 38 years. To know she would never again-- in this life time-- see his face nor his smile....would not again hold his hand nor feel his touch...hear his gentle voice nor his witty sense-of-humor.... 'who he was' while on this earth, would 'no longer be'. And while we know we will someday be together again in Heaven, we will miss him dearly in this present life.
My friend is experiencing a great amount of sadness and since of loss. The four of us have shared a great Christian friendship for several years and her husband, our friend, will be tremendously missed.
Due to this situation, I expect to spend much of my time during this next week supporting my friend and being available to her in any way possible.
Knowing how difficult this next 'transition' in life will be for my dear friend, I will be away from this blog and from all of my stamping groups for a short while.
I wanted all of you to know, I have not just gone AWOL, but will be 'ministering' in other ways to help my friend during this great time of grief.
There is so much more to the whole story, but I do not feel I can write of it all....at least at this time. I truly appreciate your understanding of this time I will be away from you.
Penny, Jess, Terri, Michelle, Grace, and Deedee....Will you please allow me another week or so to put your 'winning packages' together....I do not think I will be able to get these together as quickly as I had hoped. I'm very sorry for this delay and hope you will understand. You will get your prize packages, it will just take me a little bit more time....Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
Until next time,
May your lives be abundantly blessed because of the love you share with family and friends.

PMSSC01 Congratulations

Before asking each of the participants to choose one number from 1-12, I made slips of paper to represent each card submitted. After folding each slip of paper over and over again, dumping all of them into a bucket, shaking the bucket and tossing the slips of paper around and around, I drew out one slip of paper at a time and assigned each a number beginning with the number 1 and ending with the number 12....the first paper out was assigned number 1, the seond paper assigned number 2, so-on-and-so-forth until each card was assigned a 'randomly drawn' number.
The above picture will show how each card was represented along with the number assigned.
This morning I received the final 'vote' from the participants and I am now happy to announce the winning card....randomly selected via all participants of the PMSSC01 Sketch Challenge.
Here is the result of each vote:
Jess chose the number 3
Grace chose the number 8
Terri chose the number 8
Deedee chose the number 4
Penny chose the number 11
Michelle chose the number 12
But I'm gonna 'spread the love'
I want to thank each of you who participated...you have made this a fun challenge and I'm so blessed to have you share your talent with me on this blog!
And so...
Until next time...
Make time to create but remember to have fun and enjoy the experience!

PMSSC01 Participants: CLUELESS
The PMSSC01 Challenge has come to a close and we had a total of 12 cards submitted for this challenge. Each card is listed in my sidebar and I would encourage each of you to go and take-a-look at the entries...they are wonderful!
We are in the process of choosing the winning submission at this time. For this challenge, I decided to have each of the participants be a part of the 'voting process'. The creator of each card was written on a slip of paper, each slip of paper was folded over and over, tossed into a bucket, shaken and tossed, and then drawn out. The first draw was assigned number 1, the second draw was assigned number 2, and continued in like manner until each card had been assigned a number...beginning with 1 and ending with 12.
I've emailed each of you who participated in the challenge and asked each of you to choose one number from the list of 12. You have until noon tomorrow (again, New York time zone) to reply with your chosen number for this challenge.
No... you have no clue whose card you are voting for, you only are chosing a number....that is how I decided to do this challenge in order to get a 'Randomly Chosen' Winning Entry. You may be voting on your own card, but you won't know whose card you voted for, until the end.
In case of a tie, Micki Harper will be deciding between all numbers involved in the tie....and she has NO CLUE of what numbers have been assigned to each card either...
I guess in this case, it can be said....You are all CLUELESS....well at least for now,LOL!
Once I have the results, I will be back here to post the Winning Entry along with the list of Cards with their assigned numbers.
Bottom line... if you participated in this challenge...besure to check your email for the details of voting...and then be sure to reply with your 'vote' not later than noon tomorrow, Monday, September 21, 2009. If you have not received an email, please contact me ASAP!
Good Luck, Ladies
Until next time,
Make time to create but remember to have fun and enjoy the experience!
Barbg(WV)
Edited to add: We had 2 participants enter 4 cards each; however, for this challenge each participant will get one vote each, giving us a total of 6 votes with Micki being the tie-breaker vote (if needed). Thanks, ladies.

It's Time....For another Sketch Challenge....'Just for the Fun of It'....PMSSC02 Rectangle Squared
The Sketch and my Sample:
This is one I designed myself....and it is the first time I've ever attempted to work with 'Paint' and 'Microsoft Word' to produce a basic sketch...it is definitely a learning process for me! Hopefully, I will improve with this task as time goes by.
Most of the time, my sketch challenges will be available for you to use with no time limit...a 'Just For the Fun of It' sketch. If you decide to use my sketch, I would ask that you please give me proper credit for the sketch. And if you are posting to a public gallery or blog, I ask that you please use the number of the sketch challenge in the key words and post a link directly to your card within the comment section of the appropriate post.
A few times each year, I will post sketch challenges that will have a time-limit. In addition, these particular challenges will offer the chance to win a 'prize package' for participating within the specified 'rules' of the challenge. "Time Limited" sketches will require that you post your creation/interpretation of the sketch according to the specified posting directions and within the specified time limit....Much the same as was posted with the very first PMSSC01 Sketch Challenge. (Refer back to post 'A Sketchy Debut" for more info on that particular challenge or click here ---> http://gotpms.blogspot.com/2009/07/a-sketchy-debut.html).
My hope is to post a new 'Just For The Fun Of It' Sketch Challenge around the 15th of each month...we'll see if that happens :o)
Today's Sketch:
Is basically a Square, with a Square, with a narrow horizontal rectangle (can be ribbon or paper or whatever your creative mind desires to use) and with a vertical rectangle as the main image layer.
As always, you may use any stamp image, any paper, any embellies, and any color combination....just be sure to follow the basic sketch design...However you may add extra layers as long as you can stay within the basic idea of the sketch.... as you can see, I added an extra square layer for my sample.
Card D-Tails:
Stamp Image: 'Sassafras Faerie' by Faerie Song Art Stamps for SCACD
Card Stock: Neena Solar White, Lemon Tart, Spring Rain, and Lavendar Moon (PTI)
Pattern Paper: 'Baby' 6X6 Designer Paper Pack byDovecraft
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Copic Markers for Coloring, Shimmerz Bling for Wings and headcovering.
Embellishments & Tools: White Pearls (don't have purchase info), Stickles (Ranger), 7/8" wide Sheer Pink Organdy Ribbon (Michaels), 3/8" sheer white dotted ribbon (PTI), silk florals with stem (Michaels), scalloped corner punch (Marvy Uchida), dimensionals and glue dots (SU)

Eight years ago...9/11
At the time, my husband was a Lt. Col in the Air Force and was stationed at the Pentagon...he was at work that day! The Pentagon is a huge building and I had no idea where his office was in comparison to where the plane had hit. I will tell you that in my heart I had a sense of Peace and just 'knew' that my husband was not harmed. We sat and listened to the news that afternoon, waiting to hear something from my husband. Family members were calling wanting to know if we were all safe. I won't go into all of the detail but will simply say that 6 hours after the news first came, my husband walked into the house and we were all so very thankful. My husband, Jim, said that he and a few others were gathered around a television watching the news of the Twin Towers when all of a sudden they 'felt a big THUD and then a quick RUMBLE....Sirens immediately began sounding and everyone who was physically able began evacuating according to the emergency plan of action that had been in place. Jim said that the second they heard the THUD he stated to all those around him, 'We've just been hit'! Officers began giving orders to evacuate and stayed to be sure everyone within their area had left the building. They stood withing a reasonable 'safe' distance outside the perimeter of the building, waiting for further instructions. I can only imagine all of the 'speculation' that must have been discussed as the men and women employed at the Pentagon that day stood and observed all that was occurring....just as their friends and family waited at their homes or place of employment to hear news of their loved one. After quite some time, everyone was 'ordered home' . Even on a 'good' day, traffic around the DC beltway is extremely crowded....on this particular day...'bumper-to-bumper' traffic doesn't even begin to adequately describe the traffic jams encountered by all those who were attempting to get home to the loved ones! The Metro, another major source of transportation, was majorly backed up also and people had to stand and wait for long periods of time before a train would actually have even 'standing room' available. But something that was 'unique' to the transportation that day....people were much more 'patient' than usual and there was far less 'rage' or 'frustration' noted among the crowds....more-than-likely, they were all just thankful that they were safe and were even able to 'go home' as some were not nearly so fortunate.
And so today, I am thankful for the blessing of having my husband with me and he was totally unharmed on that tragic day! To those who were not so fortunate, my prayers continue to be with them....I can only pray that God will give them strength and comfort as they continue with their daily living, it can't be easy for them.
Finally, 2 days after the 'attack', my husband and I drove around the area of the pentagon and we saw the tail of the plane coming out from the building, along with all of the debris still scattered around the immediate grounds. It was a grave site to behold, yet at the same time, we were thankful for the reminder of why some are willing to serve their country via the military....they are brave and courageous and serve our country with honor and integrity! We will always be thankful for the small opportunity we had to serve with the USAF...and I say 'we' because anyone who is, or was, a member of the military has family and friends who support them and are affected by their 'sense of duty'.
A week or so after the attack, my husband was given a map of the pentagon. On it was a spot marked with an 'X' -- indicating the spot the plane had hit at the pentagon....also on the map was an 'X' marking the area of the pentagon where my husband was working that day. If the plane had gone to the right, just one more 'pie slice over', it would have hit exactly where my husband stood! We have kept that map as a constant reminder of another wonderful blessing from God upon our lives. We are no more special than those who were not so fortunate, but God has His own plan for our lives and His work for our lives is not yet complete. Therefore, we are even more determined to try and live our lives in such a way as to please God and honor Him with all that He gives and all that He allows for us.
Three years after the 9/11 attack, my husband retired from the USAF, having served for a little over 25 years! I am proud of him and of his service to our country. I am proud of the opportunity to have supported his service for all those years! He served honorably and proudly and I am so blessed to call him 'my husband' and 'my friend'. I am proud of him!
To those of you reading this, thank you for allowing me this moment of reflection and thanksgiving.
May you all be blessed and be safe.
Until next time,

Anna Banana
Oh my, I've had this image colored for a couple of weeks but I was having trouble deciding on a lay-out for the card. After about 4 different ideas, I finally decided on the design you now see. The pattern paper is from a new Martha Stewart 12X12 paper pad, 'Bright' and I just love every piece included with this collection. For this card I only used one of the designs, but on the inside of the card I did punch out just a glittered circle image from one of the other pages. I will probably be using more of these pages in the coming weeks so I hope you don't become 'bored'. This particular pattern seemed to work well with the Anna Banana Clown digital image from KLM designs. I won't even admit just how many times I colored this cute little clown before I felt I had something I could actually use. The fun thing about using digital images is that you can 'size' the images to whatever scale works best for your design. For this card, I used a larger size than is typical for me, but of course, it is the one on which my coloring finally came together, so I HAD to use it.
In order to get that curvy embossed score line for my pattern paper, I used a 'Crafter's Companion-Top Score Multi board (purchased from Ecletic Paperie at this link: http://www.eclecticpaperie.com/cctop1.html).After getting the embossed lines, I then used my scissors and cut about a 1/4" border on the outside of the line. (Hope that makes sense, if not, ask questions and I'll try to help make it more clear).
The clown image (KLM Digital Design) is colored using Copic Markers, and Stickles have been added to all of the 'spots' on her costume. After coloring the image, I cut closely around the image and it is attached to the card using SU dimensionals.
The solid lines are drawn free-handed using Copic's Spica Glitter Pens (orange, yellow, pink, green).
The sentiment is from Wordsworth Stamp Company, Clear Set-'Tiny Words'.
The inside sentiment, is just my own addition, written using a Copic Multiliner SP 0.3 Permanent Ink Pen.
Other details:
1 1/4" circle punch, scalloped circle punch, sponge (SU products)
Inksentials Opaque White Pen
Small Brads and large Shimmer Brad (Making Memories)
Silk Floral Flower
Scalloped Corner Punch (Marvy Uchida)
Cardstock: Select White (PTI)
Glue Glider
Hope you enjoy!
Thanks for coming by and I appreciate all of the wonderful comments many of you have been leaving for me!
The comments are always an encouragement and do inspire me to keep creating!
Until next time,
